What stresses me out is having no PLANS for travelling!!! Well, I finally went on a mini trip!

Konda-cho, town with ceramics, hot springs, woodlands

Konda-cho, Sasayama-city, Hyogo is a very peaceful nice little town to visit for ceramics lovers.

It’s located not so far from Osaka (about 1.5 hrs away by train and bus). There are around 60 potteries in this town!!!

TAMBAYAKI (=Tamba ceramics)

Called Tamba-yaki or Tachikui-yaki, the potteries here have been continuing for over 800 years. Being one of the six oldest kilns with Seto, Tokoname, Shigaraki, Bizen, Echizen, it was registered as a Japan Heritage site in 2017 for its original technic continued from ancient time. Millions of potteries have existed in this country in history, but only several have lingered to this age.

Tambayaki originally has solid, plain and unembellished design with its typical dark brown or black glazing. They produce daily items such as cups, plates, vases, pots, etc. with their special Klins called “Noborigama”. Nowadays, they also produce a variety of embellished items.

Visiting 52 klins each? or all in one at SUENOSATO?

The town has around 60 pottery klins. It’s impossible visit all of them in one day!!! But SUENOSATO has 52 of them gathered in one place!! Marvelous place for shopping! You can also try a pottery class here. There is a restaurant here, too.

↓Looking at the stairs closely, you’ll find that they’re made of potteries!

↓From here you enter the building where 52 pottery galleries are.

↓I walked around the gallery~♪

It’s only a part of them, though…
